Sensitivity Analyses

A standard step in any health economic evaluation, sensitivity analysis may include an extreme scenario analysis to test the extent to which results are robust following extreme changes in values, assumptions and sets of values and assumptions. By hypothetically varying costs and outcomes and rerunning the analysis with the new set of assumptions, for example, investigators can test the level of confidence in their results, as well as how sensitive their conclusions are to extreme changes in the underlying assumptions. The value of sensitivity analysis has been well reviewed by Health Technology Assessment agencies to be an important factor in guiding health policy decision making.
